Oil Filter: Service and Repair




Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Special Tools

EN-44887 - Oil Filter Wrench

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (LDK, LHU) Tools and Equipment.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement Engine Sight Shield Replacement.




2. Remove the oil filter cap (1) with the EN-44887 - wrench.

3. Remove the oil filter (2) and the oil filter cap seal (3) from the oil filter cap.

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

5. Remove the right and left front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.




6. Remove the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain bolts (3) in conjunction with the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain (2) and the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain washers (2).

7. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.




8. Remove the oil drain plug (1) and the oil drain plug seal ring (2).

9. Drain the engine oil.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the oil drain plug (1) with a NEW oil drain plug seal ring (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

2. Remove the oil drain pan.




3. Install the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain (2) and the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain washers (2) in conjunction with the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain bolts (3).

4. Tighten the front and suspension frame brace drivetrain bolts (3) to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).

5. Install the right and left front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement Service and Repair.

6. Lower and unsupport the vehicle.




7. Install a NEW oil filter (2) and a NEW oil filter cap seal (3) to the oil filter cap (1).

8. Install the oil filter cap with the EN-44887 - wrench and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

9. Fill the engine with engine oil. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications (LDK, LHU) Service Limits & General Specifications.

10. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement Engine Sight Shield Replacement.
