Water Pump Sprocket Replacement (2.0L LHU)

Special Tools

EN-44602 - Water Pump Holding Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Tools and Equipment.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the water pump and the balance shaft chain. Refer to Water Pump and Balance Shaft Chain Replacement Water Pump and Balance Shaft Chain Replacement.





2. Install the engine front cover (2) and the engine front cover bolts (1) hand tighten. Use the old gasket (3).





3. Install the EN-44602 - holding tool (1) to the water pump sprocket.





4. Loosen but NOT remove the 3 water pump sprocket bolts (2) from the water pump sprocket.





5. Remove the EN-44602 - holding tool (1) from the water pump sprocket.





6. Remove the engine front cover bolts (1) and the engine front cover (2) with the gasket (3).





7. Remove the 3 water pump sprocket bolts (2) and remove the water pump sprocket (1).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the water pump sprocket (1) and install the 3 water pump sprocket bolts (2) hand tighten.





2. Install the engine front cover (2) and the engine front cover bolts (1) hand tighten. Use the old gasket (3).





3. Install the EN-44602 - holding tool (1) to the water pump sprocket.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the 3 water pump sprocket bolts (2) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).





5. Remove the EN-44602 - holding tool (1) from the water pump sprocket.





6. Remove the engine front cover bolts (1) and the engine front cover (2) with the gasket (3).

7. Install the water pump and balance shaft chain. Refer to Water Pump and Balance Shaft Chain Replacement Water Pump and Balance Shaft Chain Replacement.
