Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (without Sunroof)
Removal Procedure
Warning
Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
Caution:
If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.
Caution:
Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
2. Remove the sunshade supports. Refer to Sunshade Support Replacement Sunshade Support Replacement.
3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement Sunshade Replacement.
4. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement.
6. Remove the center pillar upper trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement.
7. Remove the body lock pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (with Roof Side Rail Airbag) Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (with Roof Side Rail Airbag)Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (without Roof Side Rail Airbag) Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (without Roof Side Rail Airbag).
8. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement Roof Console Replacement.
9. Remove the high mount stop lamp cover. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Cover Replacement High Mount Stop Lamp Cover Replacement.
10. Remove the reading lamp. Refer to Reading Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
11. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation.
12. Remove the headlining trim panel (2).
Note:
Always service with the aid of an assistant to prevent kinking or damage to the headliner.
2. Use care when removing the 2 headlining trim panel retainers (1).
3. The removal of the headliner must be completed through the right front door opening.
Installation Procedure
Note:
When replacing the headliner, transfer the dome lamp wiring harness.
Note:
When replacing the headliner, transfer all foams to the new headliner.
Note:
When installing a new headliner, tape any unused connector to the headliner with a high adhesive tape.
Note:
Before installing the headliner, fix the sunshades to the headliner.
1. Install the headlining trim panel (2).
1. Install the 2 headlining trim panel retainers (1).
2. The installation of the headliner must be completed through the right front door opening.
2. Install the passenger seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation.
3. Install the reading lamp. Refer to Reading Lamp Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Install the high mount stop lamp cover. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Cover Replacement High Mount Stop Lamp Cover Replacement.
5. Install the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement Roof Console Replacement.
6. Install the body lock pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (with Roof Side Rail Airbag) Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (with Roof Side Rail Airbag)Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (without Roof Side Rail Airbag) Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (without Roof Side Rail Airbag).
7. Install the center pillar upper trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement.
8. Install the windshield side garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement.
9. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement Service and Repair.
10. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement Sunshade Replacement.
11. Install the sunshade supports. Refer to Sunshade Support Replacement Sunshade Support Replacement.
12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
