SITUATION
The panoramic sunroof wind deflector net comes loose from the sunroof frame and flaps around when driving.

CAUSE
Wind deflector net and retaining clips

PROCEDURE
Confirm the wind deflector net is loose and proceed to the next step.





1. Remove the wind deflector using Repair Instructions 54 12 090.





2. Install the replacement wind deflector kit. The new kit is identified by the blue dot on the box part label.





3. The new wind deflector net also has a small blue dot on the drivers side of the net.





4. There is a small parts bag included in the part box which contains 9 metal securing clips for the net, and two black plastic pivot clips for the two arms of the wind deflector.





5. Prepare the sunroof frame for the new wind deflector installation by replacing the 5 net securing clips, which are located in the sunroof frame header in their individual recesses as shown.





6. Use the 4 remaining clips from the kit for both extreme ends of the net. Install one additional clip to the left and another to the right of the original clip in the sunroof frame, and repeat the procedure for the other end.





7. Remove both the left and the right black plastic pivot brackets (1) from the sunroof track by twisting the upper section outward (yellow arrow) from the track with a screwdriver. Firmly insert the new pivot bracket with the interlock towards the rear, as shown, into the track until a distinct snap is heard. This will confirm the proper installation of the pivot with the upper edge being under the rail edge. Insert the new wind deflector arms into the pivot brackets by standing the deflector arms upright. Then interlock them by lowering downward into the pivot brackets.

Note:
Shown is the drivers side sunroof track.





8. Install the net by starting from the center cutout of the net and align it with the square boss in the center of the sunroof frame. Insert the black plastic net trim into the securing clips and channel, working from the center and then outwards. Use a plastic hammer to tap the plastic tab fully into the securing clips, especially for the extra clips that were added at the extreme ends. Refer to Repair Instructions 54 13 090 to complete the wind deflector installation.
