CIC: Intermittently Poor FM and No AM Radio Reception
MODEL
F30 (3 Series)
Vehicles with option 609 (Navigation System Professional, CIC)
SITUATION
Intermittently, the radio has poor FM/AM reception or no AM reception at all. In addition, only a few FM radio stations are listed in "All Stations."
Note:
Normal operation is reestablished when turning the ignition back on, after the CIC Head unit has entered sleep mode (approx. 5 minutes after turning off the ignition).
CAUSE
Hardware error in the antenna diversity module
CORRECTION
Step 1:
Check the part number of the installed antenna diversity module. The antenna diversity module is located underneath the headliner, next to the rear windshield. Refer to Repair Instruction "65 20 090 Removing and installing or replacing aerial amplifier" in ISTA. If an antenna diversity module with the following part number is installed, replace the antenna diversity module.

Step 2 (only if necessary):
If a different part number than listed above is installed in the vehicle, perform a vehicle test using the latest ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application) diagnostic software. Diagnose any relevant fault stored by completing the test plans.
Note:
When the ISTA system message displays:
Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger.
Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
