51 45 030 Removing And Installing Instrument Panel Trim







IMPORTANT: Risk of damage.

A hard disk is installed in the Car Information Computer (CIC).
Carry out mechanical work on the CIC and adjacent components with care.
Avoid subjecting the CIC to vibration / shocks.







When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove trim panel for roof pillar at front left and right
- Remove decorative strip on dashboard on left
- Remove steering column switch cluster
- Remove instrument cluster
- Remove Start/Stop switch
- Remove centre console.
- Remove right glove box with housing
- Remove trim panel for pedal assembly

Depending on version:
- Remove Car Information Computer
- Remove radio
- Remove mid-range speaker dashboard
- Remove control element for driver assist system
- Remove trim for head up display







NOTE: Shown removed here for purposes of clarity. Wiring harness is therefore not included in graphic.

Detach plug connection (1) of front passenger airbag module (2).
(Observe notes regarding Airbag plug connections).







Remove air duct (1) and sound insulation (2) in direction of arrow.







Release and disconnect plug connection at light operating facility (1).
Release cable clips in area of middle air duct.
Release screws (2) on dashboard (3).
Tightening torque 51 45 7AZ.
With a 2nd person helping, pull dashboard (3) towards rear slightly and feed out electrical wires, release further cable clips if necessary.
Remove dashboard (3) and feed out all electrical wires.

Installation note:
Make sure dashboard (3) is correctly seated against gasket for Head-Up Display and heating and air-conditioning unit.
Screw dashboard (3) in place from the middle to the outside.
Make sure all electrical lines are correctly routed.







NOTE: Graphic is only an example.

Installation note:
Make sure guides (1) on dashboard (2) are correctly seated in respective mountings of the bulkhead.
Make sure gaskets are correctly seated on air ducts.
Correctly insert foam-padded part of dashboard (2) in centre and install.
