12 42 530 Replacing Battery Positive Lead (Between Starter and Alternator)

12 42 530 - Replacing battery positive lead (between starter and alternator) (S65)

For purposes of clarity, the pictures show a partially disassembled engine.
Read fault memory. Switch off ignition.





Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery.
Disconnect battery negative lead from battery and lay to one side.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
Remove intake air manifold.
Release and raise cable duct for engine wiring harness; refer to Removing engine wiring harness

Remove throttle valve actuating motor, bank 1 13 62 540 Removing and Installing/Replacing Throttle Valve Actuating Motor





Release nut (2) on B+ lead.
Remove B+ leads.

Installation:
Tightening torque, 12 41 1AZ Specifications





Release both clamps for B+ lead.





Slacken nut (2). Remove B+ lead.

Installation:
Tightening torque, 12 31 1AZ Specifications





Note:
Assemble engine.
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Then clear fault memory.
