N55: Intermittent Loss of Power
MODEL All with the N55 engine produced to 11/2012
SITUATION
Intermittently, the engine idle speed may fluctuate up and down or cut off under any of the following circumstances, without any relevant faults stored in the DME memory:
^ While driving off throttle (coasting) and braking at speeds below approx. 10 mph
^ While idling, low-speed maneuvering such as parking, or if the steering is turned to the full-lock position
CAUSE
Unfavorable DME software
CORRECTION
Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P.
Initial DME calibration improvements for this situation were introduced in 7/2012, and are now completely corrected in 11/2012 with ISTA/P 2.48.1 as listed below:
E70, E71:
E070-12-11-502 or a more recent version
E82, E88, E90, E92, E93:
E89x-12-07-508 or a more recent version
F07:
F001-12-11-502 or a more recent version
F06, F10, F12, F13:
F010-12-11-502 or a more recent version
F25:
F025-12-07-508 or a more recent version
F30:
F020-12-11-502 or a more recent version
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger. Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
