WARNING: Only service personnel who satisfy all prerequisites are permitted to work on the correspondingly marked high voltage components: qualifications, compliance with safety requirements, work exactly according to repair instructions.
WARNING: Observe safety information for handling hybrid cars.
Preparation:
- To prevent the central locking system locking automatically the driver's door must be opened before disconnecting the jump lead.
- In view of the increased power consumption, a jump start with the aid of another vehicle is preferred.
- Check whether the battery of the second vehicle has a voltage of 12 volt and approximately the same capacity of 90 Ah.
IMPORTANT: There must be no body contact between the vehicles otherwise a short-circuit may occur.
The positive terminal is located on the left-hand side in the engine compartment. The red dust cap must be removed.
The negative terminal is located near the positive terminal. This is a nut that is mounted on the body.
Connect lead:
1. Turn off engine of donor vehicle.
2. Switch off electric loads in both vehicles.
3. Connect the positive terminal of the jump lead to the positive terminal in the donor vehicle and the other positive terminal to the corresponding positive battery terminal in the vehicle to be started.
4. Connect the negative terminal of the jump lead to the negative terminal in the donor vehicle and the other negative terminal to the corresponding earth in the vehicle to be started.
If the battery is flat it will be possible to start the vehicle immediately after connecting the jump leads.
If the high voltage battery is discharged, the charging procedure will only be activated after two unsuccessful start attempts. For this purpose it is necessary to switch on the ignition and press the START-STOP button without pressing the brake.
Charging is completed as soon as the corresponding indicator lights in the instrument cluster.
