Valve Cover: Service and Repair

11 12 000 Removing And Installing/Sealing Cylinder Head Cover (N54)

Special tools required:







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove ignition coils
- Remove injectors
- Remove rear air duct
- Unclip wiring harness section for ignition coil
- Unclip wiring harness section for injectors







Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 12 8AZ.
Remove metal bracket (2).







Disconnect engine ventilation (1).

Installation note:
The engine ventilation (1) must snap audibly into place.

Lay engine ventilation (1) in direction of arrow to the side.







Release screws (1) with special tool 11 8 620.







Installation note:
Slotted sleeves (2) for guiding ignition coils in cylinder head cover (1) must be replaced.

Remove slotted sleeves (2).







Release screws (1) on cylinder head cover.







Release screws along the lines (1 and 2).
Tightening torque 11 12 4AZ.
Remove cylinder head cover.







Remove existing gasket of cylinder head cover using a suitable tool.
Clean sealing surface.

Installation note:
Replace gasket (1).

Insert new gasket (1) into the cylinder head cover and ensure it is flush.







Assemble engine.
