17 22 010 Removing And Installing/Replacing Heat Exchanger For Automatic Transmission (N63)







IMPORTANT:
Danger of scalding.
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain coolant
- Remove fan cowl







Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.
Transmission fluid emerges when oil lines are detached from heat exchanger.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission fluid in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.







Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 3AZ .
Pull off heat exchanger (2) in upward direction from fan cowl.







Unlock coolant hose (1) and detach from heat exchanger.
Unlock transmission fluid lines (2) and detach from heat exchanger.







Pull heat exchanger (1) up and out of module carrier (2).
Feed out heat exchanger and remove.







Installation:
Only when replacing heat exchanger, modify oil pipe (1).

Release screw (2).
Remove clamp.
Release screw (3).
Tightening torque 17 22 9AZ .
Detach oil pipe (1).
Replace sealing ring.







NOTE:
Assemble engine.
Check fluid level in automatic transmission. If necessary, top up transmission fluid.
