Securing Engine In Installation Position

Danger of injury!
Owing to the new guidelines on pedestrian protection, side panels are no longer suitable for supporting the engine.
Observe following instructions relating to special tool:
1. Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
2. Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
3. No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
4. Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
Necessary preliminary work:
^ Secure engine compartment lid in service position
^ Remove acoustic cover
^ Remove upper microfilter housing part
^ Remove air duct
Assemble cross-member 00 0 200 with special tools 00 0 202, 00 0 204, 00 0 208.
Modification:
Replace profile strips with special tools 00 0 451.
Replace front supports with special tools 00 0 452.
Note:
Ensure that the longer feet of special tool 00 0 452 point to center of vehicle.
Note:
The support points on the left side are shown.
Position cross-member 00 0 200 with a 2nd person helping on designated areas (1, 2).
Note:
Make sure that the front supports 00 0 452 are correctly positioned on the carrier supports.
Important!
Avoid a change of engine position in the transverse or longitudinal direction.
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.
Screw towing hook (72 15 8 108 670) into engine block and tighten down to approx. 30 Nm.
Align cross-member so that spindle 00 0 202 is correctly positioned over towing hook.
Secure suitable chain to spindle 00 0 202 and suspend from towing hook (1).
Warning!
Danger of injury!
Tighten down all adjusting screws and nuts on cross-member 00 0 200.
Unscrew nuts (1).
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with crossmember.
Installation Note:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ.
