12 51 100 Replacing Wiring Loom Section For Ignition And Injectors (S63)







IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD protection).







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Turn off ignition
- Disconnect battery negative lead
- Remove microfilter housing
- Partially release wiring loom for engine
- Remove coolant pipe from cylinder head cover on left
- Remove fuel feed line







Lever out expander rivet.
Remove gasket (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Feed out partition (3) and remove.







Lever out expander rivet.
Release locks in direction of arrow.
Feed out fresh-air duct (1) and remove.







Open retainers.
Release lock (1) in direction of arrow.
Remove cover (2).







Unlock all plugs (1) of DME control unit and disconnect.
Unlock plug on electronics box fan and disconnect.
Unlock all plugs on plug strip (2) and detach.
Unlock plug strip (2) and remove towards top.
Unlock all plugs on plug strip (3) and detach.
Unlock plug strip (3) and remove towards top.

Installation:
When replacing wiring loom, modify plug strips (2) and (3) if necessary.







Release screws and remove retaining bar (1).
Unlock upper section (2) of partition seal in direction of arrow and remove.
Release grommets (3) for wiring looms from lower section of partition seal and from electronics box.

Installation:
Make sure grommets are correctly seated watertightness).







Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 13 71 9AZ.
Remove right vacuum reservoir (2) and place to one side.







Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 13 71 9AZ.
Remove left vacuum reservoir (2) and place to one side.







Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 12 9AZ.
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque 17 10 8AZ.
Remove oil filler neck.
Cover fill opening with a cloth.







Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 7AZ.
Lay expansion tank with holder to one side.







Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 12 51 2AZ.
Unlock plugs on injectors and ignition coils and detach.
Release wiring loom (2).
Release wiring loom (3) and lay to one side.







Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 12 51 2AZ.
Raise cable duct (2).







Remove cable duct (1) from holder by lifting upwards.
Place wiring loom (2) to one side.







Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 12 51 2AZ.
Raise cable duct (2).







Remove coolant pipe (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 12 51 2AZ.
Unlock plugs on injectors and ignition coils and detach.
Lay wiring loom (4) to one side.
Feed out air wiring loom (3) and remove.







NOTE:
Check wiring loom routing.
Check plug connections for correct seating.
Check stored fault message.
Delete fault memory.
