SUBJECT
The iPod Is Not Recognized or Is Resetting Itself

MODEL
F25

Vehicles with option 663 (Radio BMW Professional, CHAMP2) but without option 6VC (Control, COMBOX)

SITUATION
Intermittently or permanently, the connected iPod is not recognized or is resetting itself.

^ Fault code B7F8AF - "USB VBUS connection Head Unit to USB user interface: short-circuit to ground" is stored in CHAMP2 head unit

CAUSE
Hardware error in the CHAMP2 head unit

CORRECTION
Perform a vehicle test using the latest ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application) diagnostic software.

Note: When the ISTA system message displays:

Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger.

Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.

Diagnose any relevant faults to these control units that are stored by completing the test plans.

Step 1:

If fault code B7F8AF is stored, perform the relevant test module(s).

Note:
ISTA automatically generates the test module(s) based on the stored faults.

Step 2, only if Step 1 is not successful:

If performing this test module does not resolve the issue, replace the CHAMP2 head unit.

After replacing the CHAMP2 head unit, perform a programming and coding session via ISTA/P.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet / Aftersales Portal / Service / Workshop Technology / Vehicle Programming.
