54 13 065 Removing and installing/replacing floating headlining for glass slide/tilt sunroof at rear







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove floating headlining for glass slide/tilt sunroof, front







NOTE: For a better overview, the removal of the floating headlining is shown removed.







Move the floating headlining (1) forward until the sliders including rubber mounts are positioned in the aperture (see arrows).







Lever out rubber protective cap (1) on left or right with screwdriver.

NOTE:
Slide the screwdriver into the slot of the rubber protective cap (1) for removal to prevent a loss of the rubber protective caps.
The rubber protective cap could fall into the mechanism and cause subsequent damage.







Installation note:
For installation, coat the rubber protective cap with volatile lubricant (see BMW Parts Department).
Insert the rubber protective cap behind the plastic sliders with a screwdriver.







Installation note:
For installation, coat the rubber protective cap with volatile lubricant (see BMW Parts Department).
Check if the rubber protective cap has been inserted correctly.
Correct position can be checked from the top through the glass slide/tilt sunroof cover with good lighting.

IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage.
The rubber protective cap must absolutely be installed correctly.
If assembled incorrectly, the rubber protective cap may be lost and lead to major damage.







Slide the floating headlining to the rear to unlock sliders (1) from the mechanism.







Completely lift the floating headlining and move it on the side in the space.

Swivel out the floating headlining between the roof outer skin and panorama glass roof.







Installation note:
Bond the sliders (1) with superglue (see BMW Parts Department) for better installation of the floating headlining.







NOTE: Check the function with a button.
