54 10 050 Removing and installing/replacing mechanism for floating headlining







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front section of panorama glass roof







Release rivet connection (1).
Release guide block (2) in direction of arrow and remove upwards.

IMPORTANT: Clean slide/tilt sunroof frame. Remove all swarf from the slide/tilt sunroof frame.







Installation note:
Fit guide block in rail in direction of arrow (1).
Slide guide block forward as far as it will go in direction of arrow (2).







Move floating headlinings (1) to the rear in sequence and remove from the top.







Installation note:
Make sure the rear floating headlining mechanism (1) is correctly fitted on driver (2).







Detach front floating headlining mechanism (1) on left and right.

Installation note:
Make sure the front tabs of the floating headlining front (2) are correctly seated in the front floating headlining mechanism (1). Tabs must clip in correctly behind the lock (3).







Lift out rubber protective cap (1) of rear floating headlining mechanism (2) on left and right.
Detach rear floating headlining mechanism (2) from rear floating headlining (3) on left and right.







Installation note:
For installation, coat the rubber protective cap with volatile lubricant (see BMW Parts Department).
Rubber protective cap must be inserted correctly.

IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage.
Rubber protective cap must be installed correctly.
If assembled incorrectly, the rubber protective cap () may be lost and lead to major damage to the panorama glass roof.







Remove slider (1) on left and right from rear floating headlining (2).







Installation note:
Before installing rear floating headlining, production dimension (A) between floating headlining guide (1) and cover (2) on left and right must be checked.
Dimension A = max. 78 mm
If dimension A is greater than 78 mm, rear floating headlining must be replaced.







Run a function check. Move complete floating headlining manually.
