Water Leaks from Center Console

SITUATION
Water leaks from the console into the left and right footwell.

CAUSE
Condensation is leaking from the HVAC housing water drain connection (not fitted correctly).





A. Remove the center console. Refer to ISTA Repair Instruction 51161 55, "Remove and refit complete center console." The arrow shows the condensate drain in the center area of the housing.





B. Visually inspect the condensate drain connection to the tunnel. Check the grey or black insulation mat to make sure it is not trapped around the housing drain or tunnel connection. If the mat is trapped, refit it properly. This can be done without removing the housing. Refer to Step D below for pictures of a proper drain fitment.

E. Run the A/C and make sure the drain is working properly prior to reinstalling the center console.

F. Dry the carpet in the footwell area as needed, prior to handing the vehicle back to the customer.

Labor operation code 51 16 165 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 51 16 665 instead.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the "Search" button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.

Even though work time labor operation code 64 99 000 ends in "000" it is not considered a Main labor operation.
