51 16 160 Removing and installing/replacing centre console cover

Special tools required:







Necessary preliminary tasks:
Manual gearbox versions only:
- Disconnect negative terminal







NOTE: Front of centre console cover (1) is equipped with hook (2).

Unclip the centre console cover (1) from the rear to the front using special tools 00 9 325.







Manual gearbox versions only:
Unthread gaiter (1) from centre console cover (2).







Version with automatic transmissions only:

IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage.
To avoid scratching the centre console cover (1) when removing the gear selector switch (2), mask gear selector switch (2) with yellow plastic adhesive tape.







Remove centre console cover (1) at a slant toward the rear. In the process, unlock and disconnect all plug connections (2).







Installation note:
Retaining clips (1) and hook tabs (2) of centre console cover (3) must not be damaged or missing.







NOTE:
Graphic A = version for manual gearbox
Graphic B = version for automatic transmission

Replacement
- Modify front storage compartment or front controller (2)
- Modify centre console operating facility (1)

Manual gearbox versions only:
- Modify switch for electromechanical parking brake (3)
