SUBJECT
CD/DVD Cannot Be Inserted into the CD/DVD Drive of the Head Unit
MODEL
F25 (X3
[NEW] Vehicles produced from start of production (SOP) to 5/26/2011 with option 534 (Automatic Air Conditioning) and option 609 (Navigation System Professional, CIC) or option 663 (Radio BMW Professional, CHAMP2)
SITUATION
A CD or DVD media disc cannot be inserted into the head unit CD/DVD drive that is located in the center dashboard.
[NEW] NOTE:
The Radio BMW Professional, CHAMP2 head units will only play audio CDs. The Navigation System Professional, CIC head units play both audio CDs & DVDs.
CAUSE
The slot opening of the head unit CD/DVD drive is blocked by the wiring harness for the automatic air conditioning system.
CORRECTION
Do not replace parts!
PROCEDURE
Illuminate and perform a visual inspection of the CD/DVD slot opening for the CD/DVD drive of the head unit. When wiring can be seen running over the CD/DVD slot opening, perform the following steps:
1. Remove the cover (decorative strip) for the head unit and automatic air conditioning (IHKA), labor operation 51 45 385.
Note:
For information on this labor procedure, it is included in Repair Instructions RA 61 31 321 (this repair procedure is for reference only).
2. Relocate the IHKA wiring harness properly on the side of the head unit and tie it back behind the head unit.
3. Reassemble the cover.
4. Check for proper operation.
