Fuel Rail: Service and Repair



13 53 240 Replacing Complete Fuel Injection Pipe (N52T)

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT: Wear safety goggles and protective gloves when releasing the fuel line.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Read out the fault memory of the DME control unit.
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove acoustic cover







Recycling
Fuel escapes when fuel line is detached. Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.







Unlock and detach plug connections (1) on control unit.
Unclip wiring harness (2) from connector strip for fuel injectors.







Remove protective cap from compressed air valve.







Connect compressed air line (1) to compressed air valve.
Blow fuel back into fuel tank with a short blast of compressed air (max. 3 bar).







Detach connector strip (1) in upward direction from fuel rail.







Unlock and detach fuel line (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 13 53 1AZ.
Remove fuel injection pipe (3).
Replace sealing rings on fuel injectors.

NOTE: Modify fuel injectors only when replacing fuel injection pipe.







Close off fuel hose with special tool (1) 13 5 161.







NOTE:
Check stored fault message.
Delete fault memory.
Check injection system for leak tightness.
