Spoiler: Service and Repair



51 11 ... Fitting Front Spoiler (BMW ALPINA B7)







Necessary preliminary work:
- If necessary, remove front bumper trim.







IMPORTANT:
- The spoiler may only be bonded with the bumper fully mounted on the vehicle (avoid wave formation and tensions).
- Only remove protective film of the adhesive tape on back of the front spoiler during assembly.







Degrease (isohexane) the marked areas on the air ducts (3) on the front spoiler (4) as well as on the sides of the grilles (2). Roughen the surfaces with sandpaper and degrease once again.

Apply adhesion primer in the adhesive area on air ducts (3) and grilles (2) (comply with manufacturer's instructions.)







Cut uncut bumper trim (1) to dimensions (A to D). In the area of the fog light support (2), route the cutting edge (3) past with approx. 2 mm distance. Make absolutely sure you do not damage the support (2).

A = 27 mm parallel to end of bumper (see graphic)
B = 150 mm
C = 180 mm

D = 15 mm parallel to tear-off edge (see graphic)
E = 20 mm

Place front spoiler on cut bumper trim and check for accuracy of fit; if necessary, rework bumper trim. After completion of work, deburr the cutting edges.
Mount bumper on vehicle.







Clean adhesive area on bumper trim with spirit (isohexane).
Place clamps and adhesive tape on hand.







Degrease (isohexane) the marked area (2) on the contact surface at the bumper at the front spoiler (1) as well as the corresponding adhesive areas on the bumper.

Apply an adhesive bead with dimension (A) from the edge of the spoiler in the marked area (2) (contact surface of the front spoiler at the bumper).
A = 15 mm
Adhesive bead diameter= 5 mm







NOTE: The operation is shown on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.

Pull off liner (1) only partly and secure with adhesive tape (2) to outside of front spoiler.
Pull off complete liner (3).
Place front spoiler (4) on bumper and align.
Pull off the liner (1) gradually and simultaneously press against the bumper. Make sure the spoiler is correct fitted.







Secure the spoiler (1) in the area of the wheel arch with clamp (3) and paint protection (2) on left and right.
Attach the spoiler (1) in the intake area with suitable hard foam blocks (4) and adhesive tape (5)

NOTE: Always work with suitable paint protection.

Remove emerging adhesive immediately.
Screw the front spoiler on at the original points.







IMPORTANT:
- Allow adhesive to set for 24 hours at a temperature of min. 15 °C.
- 24 hours, 100 km/h maximum speed.
Mechanical strain permitted after 2 days at the earliest (e.g. car wash).
