64 52 523 Removing And Installing/Replacing Air Conditioning Compressor (Electric A/C Compressor)







Special tools required:
- 32 1 270







WARNING: High-voltage system - danger to life.







WARNING: Observe safety information for handling hybrid cars.







IMPORTANT: Before starting to work, disconnect high-voltage system from power.







WARNING:
Danger of injury.
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure.
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant fluid.
Read and comply with safety information:
- Handling R 134a (tetrafluorethane) refrigerant
- Handling refrigerant fluid







IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage.
Restart engine only when the heating and air conditioning system has been correctly filled.
Read and comply with notes on compressor replacement.
Follow notes for opening and part replacements in the refrigerant circuit.
If Air conditioning system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replace desiccant insert for heating and air conditioning system.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Drawing off, evacuating and filling the heating and air conditioning system are not included in the time value given for this job item
- Lower front axle support

IMPORTANT: Observe note on unlocking and disconnecting different plug connections.







Unlock and disconnect the plug connections (1, 2). Release screws (3).
Tightening torque: 64 52 03AZ

NOTE:
If the plug connection (1) is difficult to completely disconnect:
- Unlock the plug connection (1) and pull it off a little. Loosen the screws (3) before completely disconnecting the plug connection (1).







Loosen the screw (1) and remove the refrigerant line (2) with its sealing ring.

NOTE: Loosen the nut (1), remove the holder (2) and remove the screw (3).

Release screw (5). Remove the refrigerant line (3) with its sealing ring and holder (4).
Tightening torque: 64 52 04AZ

Installation note:
Make sure holders (4) are correctly installed.
Holder (4) must be screwed in with screw (5).

IMPORTANT: Close openings or line to compressor with special tool 32 1 270, to avoid media leak and dirt contamination.







Pull the air conditioning compressor (1) out of the side.







Installation note:
To make screwing the air conditioning compressor in easier (1), support it with an item such as a rubber block (2).
Connect the plug connection (3) before installing the air conditioning compressor (1).







After installation:
- Evacuate and fill heating and air conditioning system
