Air Cleaner Fresh Air Duct/Hose: Service and Repair



13 71 170 Removing And Installing Rear Air Duct (N54)







IMPORTANT:
Levering at the top of the air duct results in risk of damage.
Bayonet fitting on air duct may break.







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove clean air pipe.
- Remove catalytic converter for cylinders 4-6
- Remove right charge-air duct.
- Remove right engine support arm.







Unlock hose (1) and connector from air duct and remove.

IMPORTANT:
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque 13 71 4AZ.
Do not remove air duct.
Risk of damage.
Bayonet fitting on air duct may break.







Remove vacuum unit (1) at exhaust turbocharger for cylinders 4-6.

IMPORTANT:
Unlock air duct (2) in clockwise direction.
First remove air duct (2) at exhaust turbocharger to the rear.
Thread out air duct toward the bottom and remove.

Installation note:
Observe assembly sequence.
- First position air duct at exhaust turbocharger.
- Then tighten bolt at holder. Tightening torque 13 71 4AZ.
- Lock bayonet fitting at exhaust turbocharger.







Installation note:
Make sure sealing ring (1) is correctly seated in exhaust turbocharger (2).







Check air duct for tightness.
Assemble engine.
