51 11 770 Removing And Installing/Replacing Left Or Right Deformation Element For Front Bumper
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove side engine compartment lid gasket mounting in working area
- Remove carrier for bumper trim at front
- If necessary, release headlight cleaning system high-pressure nozzle (right)
Release screw (1) on V-support (2).
Tightening torque 51 61 6AZ.
Unclip hose (2) for headlight washer system high-pressure nozzle (right) at marked points and set down safely.
Release screws (1) on V-support (3).
Tightening torque 51 11 7AZ.
Feed out cross-struts (3).
Unclip cooler air duct (front) (1).
Installation note:
Make sure all retaining lugs are correctly engaged on cooler air duct (front) (1).
Radiator air duct retaining lugs (front) (1) must not be damaged.
Unclip wiring harness mounting (1).
Release screws (2) on brake air duct (1).
Remove brake air duct (1) in direction of arrow.
NOTE:
- For height adjustment, mark position of deformation element (4).
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
Release bolts (1) on engine support (2).
Tightening torque 51 11 3AZ.
Installation note:
Height adjustment, refer to Gap dimensions, body.
Release screws (1) on cross-member (2).
Tightening torque 51 11 2AZ.
Unlock plug connections (1) and (2) and disconnect.
Unlock plug connection (1) on headlights (4) and disconnect.
Disengage Bowden cable (2) from engine compartment lid catch (3).
Installation note:
Bowden cable (2) must be correctly engaged in engine compartment lid mounts.
Release screw (2).
Feed out deformation element complete with headlights (2) and lock support in direction of arrow and set down safely.
Release screws (1).
Remove deformation element (2) from lock support (3).
