Oil Pan: Service and Repair
11 13 000 Removing And Installing, Sealing Or Replacing Oil Sump (N55)
IMPORTANT:
Aluminium screws/bolts are permitted with and without colour coding (blue).
Aluminium screws/bolts must be replaced each time they are released.
For reliable identification:
Aluminium screws/bolts are not magnetic.
Jointing torque and angle of rotation must be observed without fail (risk of damage).
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front axle differential.
- Drain and add engine oil.
NOTE:
The lines must be detached from the oil sump on vehicles with automatic transmission; if necessary, detach oil pump and place to one side.
Release bolts (3) on transmission.
Tightening torque 11 13 6AZ.
Detach return hose (2).
IMPORTANT:
Different screw lengths for securing the oil sump are fitted in vehicles with all-wheel drive or with or without automatic transmission.
Observe different tightening torques.
Release bolts along line (1).
For vehicles with four-wheel drive or automatic transmission:
Tightening torque 11 13 2 and 3AZ.
Additionally for vehicles with four-wheel drive:
Tightening torque 11 13 4AZ.
Installation note:
Replace aluminium screws.
If necessary, release nuts (4). Remove oil level sensor.
Tightening torque 11 13 7AZ.
Installation note:
Replace sealing ring.
IMPORTANT:
There must be no adhesive residues in the lower crankcase section retaining threads.
Clean retaining threads and sealing surfaces.
Installation note:
Replace all gaskets.
Assemble engine.
