Double-clutch Transmission - Clutch Pressure Faults

MODEL
E82, E88, E89, E90, E92, and E93 vehicles with S65 or N54T/N55 engines and DCT produced up to 12/19/2010

SITUATION

The DCT enters the emergency mode. Some gears cannot be selected. A combination of various clutch pressure-related faults may be stored in the DCT control module:

5A41 - Clutch pressure sensor 1 failure

5A43 - Clutch pressure sensor 2 failure

5A44 - Clutch 1, incorrect pressure

5A45 - Clutch 2, incorrect pressure

5A53 - Transmission overheating, red phase

5A54 - Transmission overheating, black phase

CAUSE
DCT software error

PROCEDURE

Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.40.2 or a more recent version.

E8x/9x - Integration level (new): E89x-10-12-503 or higher.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
