Glove Compartment Lock: Service and Repair




51 16 340 - Removing and installing/replacing lock for right glovebox





Release screws (1).
Remove lower section of lock (3).
Raise upper section of lock (2), disconnection associated plug connection and remove.






Installation:
Make sure plug connection (1) is correctly mounted.
Cables must not be jammed.





Note:
Lower section of lock is destroyed when lock cylinder is removed.
When replacing lock cylinder, always install cylinder in new lower section of lock.





Removing lock cylinder or replacing lower section of lock:
Insert vehicle key (1) in lock cylinder.
Release eccentric cap (2) with screwdriver from lock (3).






Important!
Ignition key (1) must insert into lock cylinder (3) otherwise lock cylinder (3) will be destroyed during removal.

Break open catches (2) if necessary and pull out lock cylinder (3) with vehicle key (1).






Important!
Ignition key (2) must insert into lock cylinder (1) otherwise lock cylinder (3) will be destroyed.

Installation:
Lock cylinder (1) must be in the pictured position.
Journal (3) of eccentric cap (4) must be in the pictured position on lock (5).
Push lock cylinder (1) with ignition key (2) into lock (5) in this position only.
