61 12 004 - Replacing battery positive lead (from luggage compartment connector to engine bulkhead connector)





Important!

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery negative lead 61 20 900 Disconnecting and Connecting Battery Negative Lead
- Remove cover for carbon canister Removing and Installing/Replacing Cover for Carbon Canister
- Remove fuel tank 16 11 030 Removing and Installing/Replacing Fuel Tank
- Partially remove front right wheel arch trim 51 71 039 Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Left or Right Wheel Arch Cover (Rear Section)
- Remove cover from electronics box





Work is shown on the E82 N47 by way of example. There may be differences in detail in the case of other vehicle models.





Unscrew nuts (1). Tightening torque 61 12 1AZ Specifications.
Remove battery positive leads (2) from luggage compartment connector.





Note:
Vent line (4) is not fitted on the N47.

Release holder (1) from body.

Feed battery positive leads (2) and if necessary vent line (4) from holder (1).
If necessary, release retaining clips (3) and remove vent line (4) from cover (5).
Release all nuts and remove cover (5).





Release attachment points for battery positive lead (1) from body.





Note:
Electronics box shown removed for purposes of clarity.

Unclip cover cap (1).
Release nuts underneath.
Tightening torques 61 12 4AZ Specifications.
Remove positive battery cable.





Release wiring harness holder (1).
Feed out battery positive lead in direction of arrow.
