24 13 014 Replace Radial Shaft Seal For Output Flange (GA6L45R)

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT:
After completion of work, check transmission oil level. Use only the approved transmission oil.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission.







Necessary preliminary tasks
- Remove underbody protection
- Remove heat shields
- Remove complete exhaust system
- Remove the front silencer (N45T/N46T)
- Remove transmission crossmember.







- Remove propeller shaft from transmission.
- Release centre mount.
- Tie propeller shaft to one side.
Tasks are described in Removing propeller shaft.

NOTE: To rotate propeller shaft, unlock parking lock.







Release screws.
Remove transmission bearing block (1).
Tightening torque 24 71 6AZ.







Grip output flange (1) with special tool 23 0 020.
Release nut with special tool 23 1 210.

Tightening torque: 24 13 3AZ.

Installation note:
Clean the output shaft thread of the screw locking.

Replacing the nut is absolutely necessary.
From 01/11, the thread of the new nut is equipped with a screw locking.
Do not use nuts without screw locking.
Replace nut and secure with a mandrel (8 mm) by caulking.
Before starting up the vehicle, the screw locking must harden for 60 min.







Detach output flange from output shaft. Remove spacer.







Slide the special tool 24 4 360 onto the output shaft (1).
The locking hooks (2) must be immersed completely.







Turn locks (1) counterclockwise.
Twist in screw (2) until radial shaft seal is released from housing.







Oil sealing lip on radial shaft seal (1).
Drive in radial shaft seal (1) with special tool 24 4 370 as far as it will go.
