24 00 036 Removing And Installing Automatic Transmission (GA7AHSCD)
Special tools required:
WARNING: High-voltage system - danger to life.
NOTE: Observe safety information for handling hybrid cars
IMPORTANT:
After completion of repair work, check transmission oil level.
Use only the approved transmission oil.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission.
NOTE: Observe notes on unlocking and disconnecting different types of plugs in hybrid cars.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove propeller shaft
- De-energise the high-voltage system
- Disconnect the battery
- Remove both intake silencer housings
- Remove reinforcement plate
- Remove exhaust system
- Remove front underbody protection
- Remove front propeller shaft
Release screws (1) and remove retaining bracket (2).
Attach engine on front suspension lug.
Secure engine to prevent from tilting by slightly tensioning chain after removing gearbox.
(Operations for preparing and using the engine traverse member 00 0 200 are described under Secure engine in installation position and must be observed without fail.)
NOTE: Screw connection of engine mount is not released.
Unlock and detach connectors (1) and (2).
Open thermal protection coating (1).
Push lock (2) up to stop.
Disconnect connector and release high-voltage cable from holder.
Installation note:
Lock (2) must snap audibly into place.
Perform pull-off test to check whether plug connection is locked.
Release screw (1) and holder from gearbox oil lines.
Tightening torque 17 22 3AZ.
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 17 22 1AZ.
Disconnect hydraulic lines (2) to transmission oil cooler.
Seal off connections and lines with plugs.
Installation note:
Replace sealing rings.
Disconnect plug (1).
Insert special tool 24 2 390 in sealing sleeve (1).
Disconnect plug (2).
Seal sealing sleeve (2) with suitable means (e.g. adhesive tape) to prevent dirt contamination.
Release cable from holders.
Release screw (1) and remove crankshaft sensor.
Disengage cable from holder (2).
Detach connector (3) from oil pressure switch.
Unlock retainer (1).
Disconnect connector (2).
Supporting transmission:
Support gearbox with hydraulic lifting equipment 00 2 030 and special tool 23 4 050.
Secure transmission to mounting with tensioning strap (1).
Tasks are described in Gearbox holder.

Lower transmission.
Release screws.
Tightening torque 24 00 1AZ.
Screw guide pins 24 0 320 for guiding gearbox into two opposite screw points while dismantling.
Lift up gearbox into initial position again after opening gearbox screws until transmission cross-member makes full contact with body.
Then lower gearbox by approx.15 mm (cross member to tunnel).
In this position, the gearbox is pulled off the gearbox input shaft.
Lower gearbox by approx.30 cm.
Guide high-voltage cable (1) downwards during lowering.
Release screws (2) for covers (3). Tightening torque 24 00 2AZ.
Installation note:
Pay attention to danger of damage to high-voltage cables.
