Hybrid - No Start, Power Loss, MIL ON, Various Faults

Failure of the Hybrid Interface Module (HIM)

MODEL
E72 (ActiveHybrid X6)

SITUATION

Intermittently, the vehicle may not start or may experience a loss of power while driving. The Hybrid Malfunction Check Control Message will be displayed in the Central Information Display. In addition, various communication faults are stored in the Hybrid Interface Module and Hybrid CAN faults may be present.

CAUSE

Loss of communication from/to the HIM, caused by excessive flexing of the module following its original installation.

CORRECTION

Replace the HIM with a modified new part.

PROCEDURE

Replace the HIM per Repair Instruction REP 61 35 400 and modify if necessary per the criteria below.

Some spare parts may already be modified with a slotted tab at one end.

^ If the spare part received already has a slotted tab, no further modification is necessary.

^ If the spare part does not have a slotted tab, refer to the attached document for modification instructions.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays "Battery voltage only "n" V. Please connect charger." Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
