Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair
17 11 035 Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (N63 hybrid)Warning!
High-voltage system - danger to life!
Warning!
The following points must be strictly observed prior to starting work:
^ De-energise the high-voltage system
^ Observe safety instructions for handling with hybrid vehicles
Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Read out fault memory of DME control unit
^ Turn off ignition
^ Drain off air conditioning system
^ Remove transverse reinforcement
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ.
Release A/C lines from A/C condenser and place to one side.
Replace all sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant fluid.
Release coolant hose (1) from fan cowl.
Unlock plug (1) and remove.
Press lock (1).
Raise fan cowl (2) until holder (3) can be folded into centre of vehicle.
Note:
For reasons of clarity, illustration and text show coolant hose removed.
Do not raise fan cowl by fan impeller.
Press lock (1).
Feed out fan cowl (2) towards top and remove.
Installation:
Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier.
Note:
Check stored fault message.
Reassemble the vehicle.
Delete fault memory.
