12 42 500 Replacing Battery Positive Lead (Between Starter, Alternator and Battery Positive Terminal)

12 42 500 Replacing The Positive Battery Cable Between The Starter Motor, Alternator And Positive Battery Connection Point (N54, N55)







Necessary preliminary work:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit.
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery negative lead.
- Remove intake plenum.







Open cover.
Release nut, remove positive battery cable (1) from positive battery connection point.
Tightening torque: 12 42 3AZ.







Release nut and remove positive battery cable (1) from alternator.
Tightening torque, 12 42 1AZ.







Unclip positive battery cable (1) from holder (2).







Unfasten nut.
Tightening torque, 12 42 2AZ.
Detach positive battery cable (2) from starter motor and remove.







NOTE:
Reassemble the vehicle.
Check stored fault messages.
Delete fault memory.
