Glove box version from 09/2009
The glove box has a two-section lid. The glove box is opened electrically by pressing a button. The glove box is linked to the central locking system of the vehicle.

Brief component description
The following components are described for the glove box:
- Glove compartment button
- Glove box cover
- Electronic component with locking magnet and microswitch
- Emergency operation

Glove compartment button
The button to open the glove box is located in the dashboard close to the ventilation grilles. When pressed, the button switches the ground to the input of the junction box electronics (JBE).

Glove box cover
The glove box cover is unlocked electrically. This activates the electronic component on the side of the glove box housing. After unlocking, the glove box covers are opened by spring force. The locking magnet pulls and releases the lock.







Electronic component with locking magnet and microswitch
The Junction Box Electronics (JBE) actuates the electronic component for unlocking the glove box. The electronic component actuates the locking magnet. A linkage piece connects the locking magnet to the locking rod. The microswitch is designed as a normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contact.
The normally open (NO) contact switches the glove box light on when the glove box is open. The normally closed (NC) contact disconnects the electricity supply to the locking magnet when the glove box is open. This means that magnet will not be actuated if the button is pressed again (no noise and cycle protection).







Emergency operation
The glove box can be unlocked manually using the emergency operation actuator. The emergency operation actuator is accessible after the neighboring ventilation grille is removed.
To do this, reach behind the locking hooks. The turn the locking hooks to the right.







System functions

To open
The glove box is electrically unlocked by pressing the glove compartment button. After unlocking, the glove box covers are opened automatically by spring force. The glove box covers are interconnected by a mechanical system.

To close
The glove box is closed by pressing one of the glove box covers. Here, it is sufficient to push only one glove box cover closed. The glove box covers catch audibly in the end position.

Automatic locking / unlocking
The glove box is linked to the central locking system. On locking the vehicle, the glove box is also locked. On unlocking the vehicle, the glove box is also unlocked. The glove box can also be locked and unlocked using the central locking button.
