12 51 001 Replacing wiring harness section for engine (N62TU)







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit; if necessary, work through test schedules
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove microfilter housing.
- Remove the air intake hose.
- Remove intake silencer housing.
- Remove reinforcement plate.
- Remove underbody protection







Release screws and remove holder (1).
Pull ignition coil covers (2) upward out of the rubber grommets.







Unfasten bolts and nuts.
Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ.
Remove heat shield (1).

Work step
Unlock connector on left and right monitoring sensor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on control sensor on left and right and disconnect.
Unclip cable channel of the oxygen sensors.
Unlock connector on oil level sensor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on starter motor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on crankshaft pulse sensor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on tank vent valve and disconnect.
Unlock connector on alternator and disconnect.
Unlock connector on coolant temperature sensor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on coolant thermostat and disconnect.
Unlock connector on oil pressure switch and disconnect.
Unlock connector for knock sensors on the left and right of cable channel and disconnect.
Unlock connector for fuel injectors on cable channel and disconnect
Unlock connector on intake camshaft pulse sensor left and right and disconnect
Unlock connector on exhaust camshaft pulse sensor left and right and disconnect.
Unlock connectors on both solenoid valves on the left and disconnect.
Unlock connectors on both solenoid valves on the right and disconnect.
Unlock connector on Valvetronic servomotor left and right and disconnect.
Unlock connector on eccentric shaft sensor left and right and disconnect.
Unlock connector on throttle potentiometer and disconnect.
Unlock connector on fuel differential-pressure sensor and disconnect.
Unlock connector on DISA servomotor and disconnect.
Release negative lead on spring strut dome.
Unlock and disconnect plug connections in the electronics box:
- on DME control unit
- on VTC control unit
- on supply module
Remove tank ventilation line.
Release cable channel from intake plenum and remove wiring harness.

Note
Fitted on the underside of the transmission.
Tightening torque 12 42 7AZ.
- Do not remove control units.







Installation note:
Delete fault memory.
