33 111400 Removing and installing / replacing vent line on rear differential (Dynamic Performance Control)

Special tools required:





Warning!
Scalding hazard!
This work may only be carried out on an exhaust system which has cooled down.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove exhaust system.





Note:
^ To remove the vent line, do not remove the rear differential entirely.





Position special tool 33 0 110 in conjunction with 24 4 050 on workshop lifter (1).

Note:
For clearer illustration, shown with propeller shaft removed.





Support rear differential with prepared special tool 24 4 050.

Lash rear differential with tightening strap 33 5 206.





Note:

Important!
Risk of damage!
To prevent the rubber mounts from overstretching when the bolts are pulled out, ensure the bolts remains in the rubber mounts.

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 33 17 1AZ.

Installation:
Adhere to the installation sequence at the end of the document in order to prevent distortion of the rear differential during installation and thereby avoid potential complaints about noise.

Release rear bolt (1).

Tightening torque 33 17 2AZ.





Slowly lower rear differential using workshop lifter.





Remove vent line (1) in direction of arrow.

Installation:
Check sealing ring of vent line (1) for damage and replace if necessary.

When installing vent line (1), make sure markings (2) and (3) line up.





Installation sequence:
1. Install rear differential with workshop lifter and special tool 24 4 050 in rear axle carrier
2. Insert bolts (1) (do not tighten down)
3. Insert bolt (2) from rear (do not tighten down)
4. Release tightening strap, lower special tool 24 4 050 and move away
5. Tighten down screws (1)
Tightening torque 33 17 1AZ.
6. Tighten down screw (2)
Tightening torque 33 17 2AZ.





After installation:
^ Correct oil level
