61 12 002 Replacing Battery Positive Lead (from Battery To Luggage Compartment Connector)







WARNING:
Observe safety instructions for handling vehicle battery.
Follow instructions on intelligent battery sensor (IBS).







IMPORTANT: Do not under any circumstances pull or lever safety battery terminal off by force.







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery earth cable
- E72 Only: Disconnect Both negative battery cables







Disconnect plug connection (1).
Open cover and release nut (2).
Tightening torque 61 21 2AZ.
Open cover (3) and slacken nut underneath.
Tightening torque 61 21 1AZ.
Using a suitable tool, expand locking bracket (4) at lower end and clip out.
Raise distribution box slightly and remove safety battery terminal.







Unclip cover (1) from cable lug mounting.
Slacken nut (2).
Tightening torque 61 12 3AZ.
Disconnect battery positive lead.

Installation:
Risk of short circuits.
Make sure battery positive lead is correctly seated on cable lug mounting.
