Fuel Accumulator: Service and Repair




13 53 155 - Removing and installing/replacing pressure accumulator of fuel injection system (M57TU, M57T2)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Switch off ignition
- Remove all pressure lines 13 53 170 Replacing All Pressure Lines





Important!
It is essential to adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when working on the fuel system.

- Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system
- Use only fluff-free cloths
- Remove all traces of dirt before removing pipes or individual components
- Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps





Important!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.





Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.





Release union nut on pressure line between pressure accumulator and high-pressure pump.
Tightening torque 13 53 1AZ 13 53 Injectors and Lines.
Unlock and detach plugs (1 and 2).
Release screws and remove pressure accumulator (3).

Installation:
Check system for leaks.
