13 62 622 Replace The Nitrogen Oxide Sensor After The SCR Catalytic Converter (With SCR) M57T2

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT:
Ensure adequate ventilation in the workbay.
Avoid skin contact (wear gloves).
Avoid eye contact (safety goggles).
Urea/water mixture can escape when components carrying urea/water mixture are released. Have a collecting vessel ready.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Loosen the underride protection at rear left and right.

IMPORTANT:
Risk of burning.
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.







Release nitrogen oxide sensor (1) with special tool 11 7 030.

Installation note:
Tightening torque 18 31 2AZ.
Threads of new nitrogen oxide sensors are coated with Never-Seez compound.
If a nitrogen oxide sensor is reused, apply a thin coating of Never-Seez compound to thread only.
Do not clean the sensor section which protrudes into the exhaust branch and ensure that it avoids all contact with lubricants.
Release heat insulation (2) and slide towards rear.







Disconnect plug connection (1).
Cut open cable strap (2).

Installation note:
Replace cable strap.
Press tabs in direction of arrow. Remove nitrogen oxide sensor (3).







After the repair work has been completed:
Use the BMW diagnosis system to adjust the selective catalytic reduction.
