11 53 590 Removing and Installing/Replacing Auxiliary Water Pump

64 11 262 - Removing and installing/replacing auxiliary water pump





Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
Follow instructions for working on cooling system 17 00 ... Instructions For Working on Cooling System.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove fluid reservoir for power steering Service and Repair from holder
- Remove expansion tank Service and Repair from body
- Disconnect coolant hoses from auxiliary water pump





Note:
If necessary, catch escaping coolant.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release quick-connect couplings (4) and detach coolant hoses (5) from auxiliary water pump (2).
Release screw (6) and remove auxiliary water pump fixture (3) with auxiliary water pump (2).
Press auxiliary water pump (2) out of auxiliary water pump fixture (3).

Installation Note:
Make sure auxiliary water pump (2) is correctly seated in auxiliary water pump fixture (3).





After installation:
Vent cooling system and check for leaks 17 00 039 Venting Cooling System and Checking For Water Leaks.
