33 11 ... Replacing O-ring For Side Lid On Rear Axle Final Drive, Left Or Right (M3, M Coupe)







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove drive flange from rear axle final drive.







Label installation position of side lid (2) relative to housing.
Release bolts along line (1).
Tightening torque 33 11 4AZ.
Press lid (2) off of housing with two screwdrivers.

Installation note:
Markings (3) on lid and housing must match up.
Tighten screws crosswise.







Raise the bearing and remove lid (1) with disc (2).

Installation note:
Insert lid with disc in housing.

Raise bearing and push in lid to the stop.







Installation note:
Clean contact surface (1) for O-ring all around.







Replace O-ring (1).

Installation note:
Keep drain opening (2) for transmission oil clean.
Wet O-ring with approved final drive oil.







After installation:
- Check final drive oil level, correct if necessary.
