11 65 025 Removing and installing/replacing exhaust turbocharger, right, cylinders 1-6 (N74)





Warning!
Scalding hazard!
Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove catalytic converter, cylinders 1-6
^ Remove power steering gear
^ Remove charge air pipe
^ Remove clean air pipe
^ Remove intermediate pipe
^ Remove A/C compressor





Note:

Catch leaking engine oil and coolant with suitable auxiliary materials

Release banjo bolt (1).

Tightening torque 11 42 4AZ.

Replace seals.

Unfasten banjo bolt (2).

Replace seals.

Tightening torque 11 53 2AZ.

Disconnect vacuum hose (3) from vacuum unit.

Disconnect plug connection (4).





Open hose clip (1).

Tightening torque 11 00 7AZ.

Pull off coolant line (2).

Installation:
Replace hose clamp (1).





Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 42 5AZ.

Lay oil line from turbocharger to side.

Installation:
Replace seal.





Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 11 62 4AZ.

Important!
Do not mechanically deform line remaining on exhaust turbocharger.

Remove exhaust turbocharger with coolant line forwards and downwards.





If necessary, convert coolant feed line to new turbocharger.

Release banjo bolt (1).

Disconnect line (2).

Replace seals.

Tightening torque 11 53 3AZ.





Insert intermediate pipe (3).

Tighten self-locking nuts (1).

Tightening torque:18 31 6AZ.

Position V-band clamp (2) on turbocharger.

Tightening torque: 18 31 7AZ.





Tighten bolt (1).

Tightening torque 11 62 4AZ.





Assemble engine.

Check vacuum connections.

Observe BMW diagnosis instructions.

4. Air supply
5. Boost pressure control
