Coolant pump, speed deviation: outside tolerance

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the water pump's rotation
speed.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the deviation between actual
and specified rpm exceeds a limit value.
Potential problem source(s):
- Air in system
- Coolant contaminated or incorrect mixture ratio
- Defective wiring harness
- Defective water pump
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 12 V
Temperature condition:
- Engine temperature over 95 °C
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- No BSD fault

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 8 sec.

Action in service
- Bleed air from system
- Check coolant (foreign matter, mixture ratio, viscosity)
- Check wiring harness
- Replace water pump

Breakdown notice:
- none
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Engine can overheat

- If the mixture ratio is incorrect (too much antifreeze) then
the liquid can become too dense
