Fault text
Brake-light test switch, plausibility: signal implausible

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the signals from the brake
light switch to confirm that they are present and to evaluate
their plausibility.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when both signals from the brake
light switch are implausible.
Potential problem source(s):
- The brakelight switch is sticking or has an intermittent
open contact.
- The signal wire is defective.
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- 500 ms.
Other conditions:
- Depress brake pedal

Condition for fault memory entry
If another signal is received the diagnostic fault code will be
logged when the brake pedal is depressed. The diagnostic
fault code will be logged after 40 sec. if the wires are open.

Action in service
- Determine whether foreign matter (contamination) is
obstructing the brake light switch.
- Check wiring harness
- Replace brake light switch
