The diagnostic function monitors the alternator's rotation
speed.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
This fault is recognized by complex self-diagnosis routines.
Potential problem source(s):
- Alternator drive defective
- Alternator defect (bearing damage)
Terminal condition: none
Voltage condition:
- Alternator specified voltage one time for at least 5 sec.:
exceeds electrical system voltage + 1.0 V or greater than 14
V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- 10 sec.
Other conditions:
- Engine on
- Alternator not fully loaded
- No diagnostic fault codes stored for alternator

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 25.5 sec.

Action in service
- Check alternator drive (belt)
- Replace alternator

Possible apparent symptoms:
- Charge indicator lamp lights up
- Breakdown in extreme cases
