Warning!
Danger of poisoning 00 .. ... Danger of Poisoning If Oil Is Ingested/Absorbed Through the Skin if oil is ingested/absorbed through the skin!
Risk of injury 00 .. ... Risk of Injury If Oil Comes Into Contact With Eyes and Skin if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin!
Scalding hazard!
This work may only be carried out on an exhaust system which has cooled down.
Important!
Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Do not draw off hydraulic fluid (risk of contamination).
Seal off line connections with plugs 32 1 270 .
Note:
A film of grease on the anti-friction bearing in no way impairs the operational capability of the stabilizer.
In all warranty cases you must always provide a fault memory printout, even where there is no fault memory entry, with the defective part.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove left rear wheel 36 10 300 Remove or Install Front or Rear Wheel
- Remove stabilizer link on both sides from stabilizer [1][2]33 55 041 Replacing Anti-Roll Bar Link For Anti-Roll Bar on Left or Right
Additional tasks for N63 / N54:
- Remove trims for exhaust system
Lower rear section of exhaust system
N63 / N54 only:
Release nut (1) on rear differential on left and right. Remove exhaust system bracket.
Tightening torque 18 20 4AZ 18 20 Exhaust System Suspension (N63)
Tightening torque 18 31 4AZ (N54)
N63 only:
Release nuts (1) on left and right and remove bracket.
Tightening torque 18 20 5AZ 18 20 Exhaust System Suspension.
N63 / N54 only:
Slacken nut (1).
Tightening torque 18 20 5AZ 18 20 Exhaust System Suspension (N63)
Tightening torque 18 31 5AZ (N54)
Detach hose (2) on vacuum unit.
Lower rear exhaust system.
Important!
Hydraulic lines and connections must be provided with suitable plugs 32 1 270 immediately after removal!
Release screws (1) and remove pressure lines from oscillating motor.
Tightening torque 37 13 4AZ 37 13 Hydraulic Lines.
Seal pressure lines and connections of oscillating motor with clean sealing plugs 32 1 270 .
Release left and right screws (1).
Tightening torque 37 12 2AZ.
Remove stabilizer from rear axle carrier and feed out at side.
Installation Note:
Check roller bearing on both sides for damage, replace stabilizer if necessary (slight discharge of grease OK).
Keep contact face for rubber mount on anti-friction bearing clean and free from oil and grease during installation.
Check rubber mount (1) for damage, replace if necessary.
Note installation position of cutting line (2).
Important!
When assembling, make sure that in succession only the sealing plugs of the line to be fitted are removed.
When fitting lines, do not tilt connectors (sealing rings!) and connect fully before screwing.
Do not replace sealing rings on hydraulic lines.
Replace affected line if sealing ring is damaged.
After installation:
- Fill and bleed hydraulic system 37 12 Control and Suspension Elements, Rear
- Check line connections for leaks
- If necessary, carry out initial Dynamic Drive operation 32 13 006 Bleeding Power Steering (Version With Dynamic Drive)
