Turbocharger Coolant Pump: Service and Repair




11 53 000 - Removing and installing/replacing supplementary coolant pump for exhaust turbocharger (N63)





Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.





Recycling:
Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove intercooler expansion tank 17 13 020 Removing and Installing/Replacing Intercooler Expansion Tank





Unclip coolant hose (1) from holder (3) and lay in direction of arrow to one side.
Release screws (2).
Tightening torque 11 51 4AZ 11 53 Thermostat and Connections.





Important!
Risk of damage!
Coolant emerges when the coolant hoses are detached from the supplementary coolant pump (3).
Cover surrounding components and plug connections with suitable apparatus

Release hose clamp (5) with a suitable tool.

Installation Note:
Replace hose clamp (5).

Detach coolant hose (4) and lay to one side.

Release hose clamp (1) with a suitable tool.
Detach coolant hose (2) and lay to one side.





Disconnect plug connection (2).

Installation Note:
Plug connection (2) must snap audibly into place!

Lift out supplementary coolant pump (1).

Release bracket (3) from supplementary coolant pump (1).





Assemble engine.
Top up coolant 17 00 005 Draining and Adding Coolant.
Venting instructions 17 00 039 Venting and Filling Cooling System With Vacuum Filling Unit must be observed without fail.
