41 61 055 - Removing and installing/replacing left or right hinge for bonnet/hood, vehicles with AFGS active pedestrian protection





Warning!
Adhere to the following safety instructions [1][2]72 .. ... Safety Precautions and General Information so as to avoid a risk of injury by the actuator.
The battery negative lead 61 20 900 Disconnecting and Connecting Negative Battery Cable must be clamped off prior to work on the hinge or bonnet/hood!





Important!
When replacing the hinge, it is absolutely essential to remove the bolts (1) fitted on the new hinge!
If these bolts are not removed, active pedestrian protection will not function!





Necessary preliminary tasks:
Clamp off battery negative lead 61 20 900 Disconnecting and Connecting Negative Battery Cable
Remove engine hood





Hinge upper section:
Unlock retainer (1) and release resetter (2) at top.
Release screws (3) and remove hinge upper section.

Installation Note:
Tightening torque 41 61 4AZ Removing And Installing Bonnet/Hood, Vehicles With Active Pedestrian Protection.
If necessary, adjust [1][2]41 61 Engine Compartment Lid hinge together with bonnet/hood
Shown without damper for purposes of clarity.





Hinge lower section (complete hinge):

Note:
For purposes of clarity, picture shows actuator, resetter and damper removed.

Release screws (1) and slowly raise hinge together with actuator until plug on underside of actuator is accessible.

Installation Note:
Tightening torque 41 61 3AZ Adjusting Engine Bonnet/Hood.
Adjust [1][2]41 61 Engine Compartment Lid hinge together with engine hood/bonnet.





Pull lock (1) in direction of arrow.
Then press together plug locks on both sides and detach plug (2).
