Coolant pump for intercooler, speed deviation: outside
tolerance

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the rotation speed of the
intercooler water pump.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the difference between the
specified and actual values for the intercooler water pump's
rotation speed rises above a limit value.
Potential problem source(s):
- Stiction
- Air in system
- Defective wiring harness
- Intercooler water pump defective
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 12.5 V
Temperature condition:
Engine temperature > 70 °C
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- No faults should be present on the LIN bus

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 8 sec.

Action in service
- Bleed air from system
- Check coolant (foreign matter, mixture ratio)
- Check wiring harness between DME and intercooler water
pump
- Replace intercooler water pump

- none
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Reduced power

Service instruction
- Excessive intake-air temperatures produce loss of power
- If the mixture ratio is incorrect (too much antifreeze) then
the liquid can become too dense
