Coolant temperature sensor, plausibility: Signal stuck in
upper measuring range

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors whether the coolant
temperature sensor's signal is sticking in the higher
temperature range.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the value from the sensor is
too high relative to time with engine off. (Downtime >6h)
Potential problem source(s):
- Sensor defective
Terminal condition: none
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 11 V
Temperature condition:
- Intake-air temperature at start between -10 and 35 °C,
ambient temperature > -10 °C, cold start
Time condition:
- Downtime > 360 min, time since start > 10 s
Other conditions:
- Engine on

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory
immediately.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and sensor
- Replace sensor
